Fellowships for Graduate Students
at the Journal of
Western American Literature

Western American Literature offers graduate students a stipend competitive with other teaching or research assistantships and the opportunity for training in the field of academic publishing.

2 fellowships are available every year:

(1) Thomas J. Lyon or Western Literature Association Fellowship

(2) Marie Eccles Caine Foundation Book Review Fellowship


Funding for WAL fellowships is provided by the Western Literature Association and the English Department at Utah State University, with additional support from the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences at Utah State University as well as the Marie Eccles Caine Foundation. The WAL Fellowship and the Thomas J. Lyon Fellowship are offered in alternate years.
